about the holiday when we arrived.
This part is dedicated to the whole reason
why we decided to go to Ibiza. We arranged with 11 other friends that we will
rent a villa. The option was to go to Valencia or Ibiza and with everyone
said they prefer Ibiza so we decided to investigate this option. Needless to say
this was a year and a half before we actually went 😉 who’s the best planner in the world!
(fingers crossed) aesthetically please EVERYONE! That’s was a big ask!.
less when we drove up to the villa (9 bedrooms by the way), it looked more like a
hotel. In fact we first drove past it and then realised that this is the place we will
spent the next week! AWESOME!

this is one thing I have to point out, where ever you go, to the doggy parlour,
supermarket or even a granny’s house, everywhere on this island dance/lounge music
is playing. Somehow the Island demands it, and it adds to the feel, so firstly I
rented speakers from IbizaPA to continue the Ibiza tradition and to keep us company at the
pool (and because we have a top London DJ part of our holiday party cough
cough). Secondly, I arranged for caterers to cook for us on the birthday day, a
nice BBQ menu with an all-Spanish feel. Both these parties are coming to the
villa as we arrive to drop off or inspect respectively.
big old shop and get the essentials in like “white gold” for the all-important “throne”,
tomato ketchup and booz loads of Booz!. Our first night we decided to stay at
the villa and enjoy a BBQ, and what a great idea. We had the majority of the
party arriving at scattered times throughout the day so we didn’t want to leave the villa.
about the pool! Our second day in the villa sees us enjoying this to the fullest;
everyone at the villa gathers and stayed around the pool. From breakfast coffee
all the way through to the evening BBQ (yes another one!). The quality of meat and fruit and food is so amazing
that whilst at the villa everyone wanted to take advantage of it.

The day before the big “Four O” we decided to go to Café delMar for the evening sunset. One thing you have to know is that the location of Cafédel Mar is in San Antonio. San Antonio has a reputation in line with “Sun, Sex
and Suspicions Parents”, if the title isn’t enough to set the scene google it!
Sunset this time of the year is around 9.30pm but for you to get a good space
at Café del Mar especially on a Friday evening, you need to be there early so
we arrived around 7pm. Now this is the cherry on the cake, as tacky as San
Antonio can be right on the opposite scale is the sassiness of Café del Mar and
the wonderful sunset it offers. Fortunately because we are a large group, the
waiters found us a spot, probably the best spot in the house. Right at the top,
with wicker lounge outdoor furniture and cocktails larger than the average fish
bowl! Lastly the Pièce de résistance is the world famous SUN SET. The music by
the DJ is absolutely so well timed, with the beats going down into a
mesmerising trance where the whole crowd facing westwards are in awe of El Sol!
You can hear a pin drop until the last rays disappear behind the horizon when
suddenly the fiesta is starting with pumping music hitting decibels only
allowed in Spain.

a restaurant just a stone through away from where we were. Once again! This just
added to the night, what a great place. We arrived and the maître d’hôtel or
restaurant manager greeted us. Special mention need to go to him, his English was
top notch and so was his attention to customers and their needs. We were seated
and soon there after, on the stage right next to our table, we had a flamenco vs
dance vs hip hop performance. Utterly impressive. Just as impressive was everyone’s
food, apart from mine, but that didn’t deter from the wonderful restaurant this
is. So, to everyone going to Ibiza, do make your way to San Antonio, despite
its reputation there are some real jewels, I just mentioned a few!
Finally, the Birthday! Yes, have I mentioned before the
whole reason for going to Ibiza was because it was my partners 40th
birthday celebrations, and what a day it was! Me with my planning head on had
planned for this day for the last year and a half as I said before. Not only do
we have speakers to keep us happy at the pool, and a BBQ by outside caterers. At
noon we received a delivery of the 40th birthday cake, and lastly,
also 12 bottles of 1.98Euro bottles of Cava, yes you guessed it right, a Champagne
Pool Party! So, I dished out jobs to everyone and they did just so well. Hats
off to everyone that paced themselves throughout the day! But as we started, we
set up a table with the cake and bottles of cheap cava. DJ Wispa spinned the
Birthday Tune, and the then the popping sound of the bottles as carbonated wine
is sprayed left, right, centre, up and down. With everything that happened that
day, I believe it was one of the best birthdays I had the experience to have
attended. And as a last course and the cherry on the cake, our friend (referred
to in the first blog), through his connections, got the whole party into Es
Paridis for Hed Kandi, with regret I didn’t go! The night out was on everyone’s
lips the next morning! Sadly I cannot write about it now ….
