Well after my nice talk about work right after work on a lovely evening on the river. I wanted to go for a nice meal – to celebrate my Birthday! (cough cough). So we jumped on a bus with Tilly (our Cavalier King Charles) to Chiswick Strand on the Green, a lovely part of London. If you have never been, be sure to visit it especially if you planning to visit Kew Gardens, its only a short walk away.
So we head off to one of my favourite restaurants Cafe Rouge – yes ok I know its not “French” and I know its a chain and and and…. however this particular restaurants setting is spectacular. And truth be said, Cafe Rouge offer at really good value for money, so there’s my justification. To the delight of some you , unfortunately they were fully booked on the terrace – as we have the dog we had to sit outside.
We asked around at a few places if we can sit outside but because we had such an amazing day and the evening was wonderfully warm, we could not find anywhere to sit.
So Plan B – drop poor old Tilly off at home! and head out to a restaurant I wanted to visit before but never did – Fat Boys Thai restaurant in Brentford. Being the true Gemini I am, I changed my mind again on the way there.
I have been noticing a A-Frame Board with directions to a Turkish restaurant. I was instantly attracted. I love that style of eating and food as they usually offer sharing platters and great atmosphere, and I wasn’t disappointed. We arrived Gelata Pera and took a seat outside – we finally manage to get somewhere to eat al fresco. The menu was true Turkish menu with a wonderful array of food choices. We chose the set menu for two at £36.00 and it was a really nice selection of food. One thing to mention, the set menu comes with Baklava for dessert (as expected from a Turkish restaurant), this was probably the best Baklava I have ever had, baring in mind, I have been to Turkey and Greece before! therefore if you wish to have the best Baklava, make your way to Gelata Pera! its worth it just for that!
